There’s nothing like the smell of cinnamon and apples baking in the oven. These mini apple hand pies are the perfect fall project for little hands — easy to make, fun to decorate, and even more fun to eat!
Ingredients
- 1 package pre-made pie dough (or homemade, if you prefer)
- 2 apples, peeled and diced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sugar + pinch of cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the filling: In a small pan, cook apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon over medium heat for 5 minutes until softened.
- Cut the dough: Use a round cookie cutter (or glass) to make circles. Place a spoonful of apple mixture in the center of each circle.
- Fold and seal: Fold the dough over and press the edges with a fork. Brush with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle and bake: Dust the tops with cinnamon sugar and bake for 18–20 minutes, until golden brown.
Kid Tip:
Let kids crimp the edges or use small cookie cutters to make tiny vents or decorations on top.
