There’s nothing like the smell of cinnamon and apples baking in the oven. These mini apple hand pies are the perfect fall project for little hands — easy to make, fun to decorate, and even more fun to eat!

Ingredients

  • 1 package pre-made pie dough (or homemade, if you prefer)
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar + pinch of cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the filling: In a small pan, cook apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon over medium heat for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Cut the dough: Use a round cookie cutter (or glass) to make circles. Place a spoonful of apple mixture in the center of each circle.
  4. Fold and seal: Fold the dough over and press the edges with a fork. Brush with beaten egg.
  5. Sprinkle and bake: Dust the tops with cinnamon sugar and bake for 18–20 minutes, until golden brown.

Kid Tip:

Let kids crimp the edges or use small cookie cutters to make tiny vents or decorations on top.
